Reproduce Dental Care

Reproduce Dental CareIs the treatment of a tooth damaged by decay to restore its normal function and shape? When performing a filling, first remove the decayed tooth material, clean the affected area, then filled the cavity with a filling material.

By closing off spaces where bacteria can enter, a filling also helps prevent further decay. The materials used include gold, porcelain, resin composite (restoration of the tooth-colored) and amalgam (alloy of mercury, silver, copper, tin and sometimes zinc).

Mainly two types of materials used in the clinic:

Amalgam (silver) are resistant to wear and relatively inexpensive. Because of its dark color, are more noticeable than the restorations with composites and therefore not usually used in very exposed to the light, like anterior teeth. Currently its use is increasingly limited.

Composite resin (plastic) get the same color as your teeth and therefore used where it is important to maintain a natural look.

The hard palate separates the mouth from the nose, which is located just above. The soft palate forms a curtain between the mouth and throat (or pharynx) at the back of the mouth. The soft palate contains the uvula, the fleshy part that hangs in the back of the mouth. The tonsils are located on either side of the uvula and look like twin pillars holding up the opening of the pharynx.

A bundle of muscles extends from the base of the mouth to form the tongue. The upper surface of the tongue is covered with tiny bumps called papillae, which allow us to capture the flavors. In the language, there are four types of taste buds: those that can detect sweet, salty, sour and bitter.

Three pairs of salivary glands, located on the walls and floor of the mouth secrete saliva, which contains a digestive enzyme called amylase, responsible for initiating the breakdown of carbohydrates even before food enter the stomach. Read the rest of this entry »
