The 3 Best Dental Schools in the U.S.
If you’re interested in becoming a dentist, dental assistant, orthodontist, or any other career related to dentistry, then your first step is to find the right dentistry college. There are many dentistry schools out there, but you probably want to attend the best one possible. Following are the three best dental schools in the United States that you will want to apply to:
1. Harvard University – Boston, MA
That’s right—Harvard isn’t just for lawyers and other smarties. It produced fantastic dentists, too. The Harvard School of Dental Medicine was established in 1867 and currently has its own clinical facility. The Harvard Dental School offers students a Doctor of Philosophy in Biological Sciences in Dental Medicine and the more popular Doctor of Dental Medicine. The school’s teaching style gives graduates the opportunity to seamlessly transition to careers in the academics, clinical practice, or research.
2. University of the Pacific – San Francisco, CA
This private school’s main campus is located in Stockton, California—however, the dental school is in good old San Francisco. The school offers a Doctor of Dental Surgery program as well as five other certificate and degree programs. While the education that you’ll receive at this dental school is among the best in the country, it will cost you a pretty penny. University of the Pacific’s dental school was ranked as the sixth most expensive dental school in the country.
3. The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School
While this school is quite young, it has already called a lot of positive attention. Faculty in the school actually developed the first digital panoramic X-ray device in the nation—so that should give you an idea of the incredibly talented and intelligent staff. Junior and senior students participate in off-campus clinical rotations; this is just one facet of their excellent training and the in-depth exposure that students receive.
So what do you think? Which of these three dental schools would you love to attend? And do you think we left any other incredible dentistry colleges off the list?
