Tooth fixed prosthesis
Fixed prostheses are those that can not be removed by the patient, being attached and supported by pillars and their own teeth or dental implants.
In the market there are different types of fixed prostheses among which we highlight veneers, crowns and bridges.
The placement of a fixed prosthesis has advantages such as functionality and convenience of a natural tooth. In either case, your application will depend on the prescription, and to rehabilitate the structure.
TYPES
1.The crowns
Individual pieces are cemented on the tooth well before carving, or an implant.
This type of prosthesis perfectly reproduces the tooth structure, so that in this way, in addition to rehabilitating the piece get full functionality and appearance similar to that of adjacent parts.
There are several types of crowns on the basis of the material used for manufacturing:
- Metal Crown.
- Metal-ceramic crown.
- Ceramic Crown, or aesthetics.
2.The veneers
These are thin porcelain sheets with a thickness of about 0.3 to 1 mm, is placed over the front of the teeth.
The attachment to the tooth is made using a special adhesive being properly attached to the tooth, with the strength needed for a normal life.
With a primarily aesthetic purpose corrects alterations in size, shape, tears, teeth apart, or just to get the perfect smile for the stars.
3. Dental Bridges
Is the replacement of one or more teeth using adjacent teeth for support. Porcelain fixed bridges are now more complex treatments, they must take into account not only aesthetics, but also the function (bit) is going to have the bridge. The teeth adjacent to the empty space is about 1.5 mm wear everywhere to capped. If you need a part, means holding a three-unit bridge or crowns, two holding and what you need. Once done, this is cemented on the abutment teeth and is very unlikely to take off, with the current cement. The most important thing is that the patient made a good teeth cleaning.
For the placement of a bridge must take into account physical aspects and knowledge of restorative materials. Not all cases can be treated with a fixed bridge. Spaces where many pieces are missing are indicated. Neither can be placed on teeth or teeth that are not in good condition, it may be that a piece is in good condition to sustain herself in the patient’s mouth, but not strong enough to support others in these cases Porcelain bridges are contraindicated.
